The plot comes to a head when Zinzolin freezes Opelucid City in ice with a combination of technology and the legendary dragon Kyurem, which Team Plasma has captured. One of the Seven Sages, Zinzolin, appears in an antagonistic role, yet former sage Rood will help the player. Over the course of their journey, the player and Hugh will have numerous encounters with both current and former members of Team Plasma, as well as the mysterious scientist Colress. Though filling the traditional rival role, Hugh is not pursuing the Pokémon League challenge: it is revealed that he is trying to recover a stolen Pokémon from Team Plasma, who were not disbanded two years prior as expected. A boy from the player's hometown, Hugh, will travel with the player at certain times. After receiving their first Pokémon from Professor Juniper's assistant Bianca, they are encouraged to battle in Pokémon Gyms and aim for the Pokémon League. The player-named, by default, Nate if male or Rosa if female-begins in the southwestern city Aspertia City. Three new Gym Leaders and a new Champion are introduced, while the Unova Pokédex is expanded to include Pokémon that are foreign to the region, much like in Pokémon Platinum. Many changes have taken place in Unova over this period: new locations are accessible in the southwest and northeast of the region, and some previously existing locations cannot be visited or are restricted until later in the game. Pokémon Black and White 2 takes place two years after the events of Pokémon Black and White. Lots of science will get us a long way.ī/W has the disadvantage of not have many of the previous pokemon so past work wouldn't be much of a boon. There are a lot of interesting designs in the collections for Gen 5 even if the sprites are too antiquated. I thought that there was a base ROM or method to remove sprite animations. If moemon decides to push onward I'd be happy to provide technical support in getting the B/W ROM hacking side of things up and running for bimonthly or whatever releases, but I don't really have the experience/time to provide the artistic direction needed to make spriting decisions on what should go in or not. (As mentioned before animations don't work as far as I know, though to be honest the amount of extra work required to even make one animated sprite is huge compared to creating several static ones instead, so it's not that big of a loss in my opinion). For what it's worth I've still got access to most of the tools for B/W hacking so could potentially do sprite inserts.
